The Comité International des Poids et Mesures (in American English: International Committee for Weights and Measures), abbreviated CIPM, is an international standards organization that through various resolutions from time to time sets measurement standards for various fundamental quantities such as the SI units.[1] The various standards usually are adopted by approval as resolutions of the Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures, CGPM,[2] and are available on web sites maintained by the BIPM[3] and by NIST[4]. The member states of the CGPM can be found on the BIPM website,[5], and the CIPM consists of eighteen delegates from these member states.
