The Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) was founded in 1946, by Leonard E. Read, to study and advance what it sees as the “first principles” of freedom: the sanctity of private property, individual liberty, the rule of law, the free market, and the moral superiority of individual choice and responsibility over coercion. It has sponsored presentations from Ludwig von Mises, F.A. Hayek, Henry Hazlitt, Milton Friedman, James Buchanan, Vernon Smith, Israel Kirzner, Walter E. Williams, [[George Stigler, Frank Chodorov, John Chamberlain, F.A. Harper and William F. Buckley Jr..
It has a campus where education is offered, and its chief publication is The Freeman: Ideas on Liberty.
